Alternative Lodging Options

Campgrounds for GOBA 2012

What you get with GOBA

GOBA is a camping tour; however, you are welcome to take advantage of the commercial lodging in our host communities at your own expense. You must make your own reservations and your own arrangements to get to and from these motels; GOBA will deliver your baggage in large luggage trucks to the designated campgrounds, but not beyond. Be sure to mention to the motel that you are with GOBA. You may ask these motels if they have a baggage shuttle service available. [The GOBA town bus shuttle is limited and does not serve the hotels.]

In order to get their necessities to their motel, many riders bring a small pannier or backpack. Each day, they take just what they will need for the night from their larger bag and leave this bag in the campgrounds with a friend. They then can ride to their motel with a light load. In the morning, they ride with the pannier back to camp and load the overnight things back in the larger bag, put it on the truck, and are ready to go.

Contacts for Hotels

In addition to doing a hotel search in the Internet, we highly recommend you contact each of the local visitors bureaus for the latest on lodging availability, including hotels and B&Bs. Be sure to ask them the distance to the campground. We make no claims about the quality of these establishments. Most rooms are gone by early spring, even earlier in towns with very limited beds. We suggest you ask for written confirmation or a confirmation number and reconfirm these reservations before the tour.

Motel Package Option

Another lodging alternative is to purchase a lodging/shuttle package. We have licensed Ohio Travel Treasures to offer a package of rooms during GOBA that will include transportation to and from our campsites along with baggage shuttle. See the OTT Motel Package [pdf] (if motel packages are still available) or call Ohio Travel Treasures at 513-923-9112.

Options for possible dormitories, gym floor sleeping, and home stay programs

If available, these will be in the March and May GOBA newsletters. Any fees associated with these options are at your own expense. With encouragement from GOBA, it is up to the overnight towns whether they can or are willing to offer these options. In some towns, these options are organized after the last newsletter deadline, so be sure to check at the Local Information Booth as you arrive in each town for last-minute additions.
