Highlights of the 2004 route included


Saturday, June 19
Medina

Check-in at GOBA headquarters, Medina County Fairgrounds, starting at 12:00 noon - Bicycle parade with costume contest - Opening ceremonies and evening entertainment - Historic Medina Square - A mecca for antiques and more chocolate shops than you can shake a candy bar at - America's Ice Cream & Dairy Museum (hmmm...this may take some research!) - All this and more for GOBA 2004!

Sunday, June 20
Medina to Orrville

The first GOBA dawn will inspire you to start on the path to making 2,999 new best friends - Pedal back to yesteryear, skirting the Ohio & Erie Canal system - Make tracks to the Orrville Depot Museum - Rest your weary self at Orr Park and Orrville High School.

Monday, June 21
Orrville to New Philadelphia

Take your time at Lehman's Store - Marvel at the world-famous Warther Carving Museum and Gardens - Set your tent up in Tuscora Park, and enjoy the swimming, the salsa, and the sauntering to downtown.


Tuesday, June 22
New Philadelphia (layover day with options)

Enjoy Schoenbrunn Village or Trumpet in the Land outdoor drama - Or bike the 50- or 100-mile loop to the restored Dennison Depot railroad station and through the rolling Appalachian foothills of Harrison and Carroll Counties. Featuring agricultural land, historic sites, and a portion of the Tappan-Moravian Trail Scenic Byway, you will visit small villages and some of the lakes and park facilities operated by the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District. The routes will intersect the 1300 mile Buckeye Trail in several locations and may include a ride on the Harrison County Conotton Creek Trail, an 11.5 mile rail trail. - Or relax and sign up for one of the guided bus trips, offering water adventures or insights into the Amish culture

Wednesday, June 23
New Philadelphia to Bolivar

Leave the banks of the Tuscarawas River and enjoy the "ups and downs" of the Adventure - Visit Fort Laurens and Zoar Village - See the vestiges of history along the old Ohio Canal - Trade your pedals for paddles and go canoe!

Thursday, June 24
Bolivar to Wooster

Wind your way to Wayne County - Feast your eyes on the patchwork of farm fields and Amish quilts - Wooster...it's the Cat's Meow (we'll show you!) - the sweet scents of Secrest Arboretum and gardens - Camp at the Fairgrounds and walk to downtown.

Friday, June 25
Wooster (layover day with options)

Wooster hospitality might beckon you to Everything Rubbermaid or ice skating (in June!) - Today's loop is 50 miles leading you to Holmes County and the charm of Amish communities - Be ready to sing your heart out at the Song Contest!

Saturday, June 26
Wooster to Medina

Watch where you're going, so you can appreciate the beautiful Overton valley (and the hills on both sides of you) - Linger in Lodi - Yet, nothing could be fina than to be back in Medina in the morning!
